reMYND is a biopharmaceutical company developing disease modifying treatments against primarily Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
reMYND is a spin-off company from the University of Leuven, founded in 2002, with two independently managed business units:
- The Drug Discovery Unit discovers and develops proprietary treatments against protein-misfolding disorders, targeting primarily tau for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and α-synuclein for Parkinson's Disease (PD). The lead PD compound is planned to enter Phase I in 2010/2011, and the lead AD compound one year later. In addition, 2 compound series have been identified that fully rescue pancreatic β-cells against IAPP-toxicity for Diabetes (contact: pipeline@remynd.com).
- The Contract Research Organisation helps other companies to assess in-vivo the pharmacodynamics of their proprietary treatments against AD and PD. The main focus is on testing of Abeta treatments in reMYND’s proprietary Alzheimer transgenic mouse models with the APP-London mutation and derivatives thereof (contact: cro@remynd.be).
In addition, reMYND sells licenses or commercial kits for RadarScreen, a novel yeast-based screening system to enable the rapid and cost-effective identification of genotoxic compounds in early stage drug discovery (contact: radarscreen@remynd.com).
reMYND has been substantially supported by grants from
IWT and from the Michael J Fox Foundation. |
